McAllen Heritage Center to host outdoor holiday concert

The McAllen Heritage Center museum of history and culture is pleased to host the Camarata Cellista in an outdoor holiday concert at the museum on Saturday, December 14 at 1:30pm. The concert will be held in the side park area located immediately to the south of the museum which is located at 301 S. Main (across from JC Penney). There is limited parking in the rear of the museum but visitors may also utilize the downtown parking garage located at 15th and Beaumont. Cellista cello choir is a nonprofit organization based in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. Founded in 2001, Camarata Cellista has allowed young cellists of the Rio Grande Valley an educational and semi-professional performance opportunity like no other.

Camarata Cellista has performed valley-wide, including performances with the Valley Symphony Orchestra, the South Texas Youth Symphony and several public schools. The ensemble currently involves over 30 student cellists in an environment where they have the opportunity to develop themselves technically, musically, socially and professionally. These Valley student members range from elementary age to college level. The Cello choir is directed by local orchestra/violincello teachers that bring a varied range of experience in their area of study.

Refreshments for the musicians and all visitors will be offered inside the museum after the concert until 3:30pm. For more information about MHC or the Camarata Cellista, please call 956-687-1904.
